rust·y: weakened or impaired by neglect, disuse, or lack of practice.

rel·ic: something that has survived the passage of time, especially an object or custom whose original culture has disappeared

In the age of technology, we elevate the newest apps and gadgets over their predecessors. My desire is to bring back some wisdom from a bunch of dead guys – men who desired to live holy lives and wrote about practical issues facing the believer and the church. I think you’ll be amazed at how they speak to the Christian life in any era.

So, through these “Rusty Relics” we bring back quotes from those who have passed on, but whose words survive the passage of time.

God's Tender Mercy

by Brian Mills

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him!” Luke 15:20 This parable is chiefly designed to set forth the grace and mercy of God to poor sinners who repent and […]

Prayer A Privilege

by Brian Mills

Prayer is everywhere in the Bible recognized as proper, and inculcated as a duty. But it is also a most precious privilege, one of the richest blessings conferred on man. It opens a method of fellowship and communion with our Father in heaven; it furnishes a refuge for the soul oppressed with sin and sorrow; […]

Don't Be A Slave To Worldly Amusements

by Brian Mills

“Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”-Rom. 12:2 Be separate from a world that lies in wickedness. Of course in some measure you must mix in the world, while you live on earth–but let it be evident that you rise above it. Don’t be the slave […]

Sin! What Have You Done?

by Brian Mills

Sin, sin! What have you done! This is your work. Never, but for sin, would we have seen the holy, spotless Savior thus enduring unspeakable sorrows. Never, but for sin, would Christ have drunk the cup of suffering, wrath, and death! Can it be a light thing which cost the Son of God such groans, […]

The Last Day of the Year

by Brian Mills

“Jesus said unto him: Follow Me!“ John 21:19 We have come now to the last day of the year! For a whole year in these daily readings, we have been walking with Christ. Is there any better word with which to close this book and close the year, than this last invitation of Jesus, “Follow […]

Where Is Your Treasure?

by Brian Mills

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34  Would we know what we ourselves are? Let us see whether we have our treasure in Heaven–or whether all our good things are here upon earth. Would we know what our treasure is? Let us ask ourselves what we love most? […]

To Walk With God

by Brian Mills

“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:13 “The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good!” Proverbs 15:3 To walk with God, is to […]

The Great Price of Our Redemption

by Brian Mills

“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect!” 1 Peter 1:18-19 How great is the price which has […]

Come Out From Among Them

by Brian Mills

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2 Men of the world form their opinions of the gospel, from what they observe in its professors. There is nothing more dangerous and injurious, than when professors of religion conform to the world so far that no […]

What the Human Heart Craves

by Brian Mills

“Man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward!” Job 5:7 “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.” John 16:33 The testimony of Scripture, that “man is born to trouble,” is continually echoed by thousands who know nothing of the Scriptures, but simply speak the language of their own experience. […]
